Indore has been the unstated capital of central-India wedding production for two decades. The cluster is dense — six major caterers, dozens of florists, a deep ghodi-baraati and dhol-tasha bench, two professional makeup houses, three full-stack décor studios — and it’s all within a 20-minute radius of Vijay Nagar. The labour rate is materially lower than Mumbai/Delhi without any loss of finish.
For destination hosts that means production budgets stretch further. A wedding that would cost ₹50 lakh in Udaipur lands at ₹25–30 lakh in Indore, same level of finish, same guest experience.
The catch — the one thing most Indore venues lack — is on-site accommodation. Out-of-town families don’t want their relatives crisscrossing the city between hotel and lawn. Dastoor Garden has 33 rooms on the property in Gumashta Nagar; Dastoor Delitehas 70 rooms at its own address at MR-10. They are separate properties roughly 25 minutes apart — pick the one your wedding-day function is being held at, and stay the immediate family there.
How it usually runs.
Day 1 — Welcome + Mehndi
Out-of-town family arrives mid-morning. Welcome lunch on the lawn at Garden. Mehndi-cum-haldi under the 30,000 sq ft covered banquet — controlled lighting, intimate scale.
Day 2 — Sangeet + Cocktails
Covered banquet for the sangeet performance — light and sound dialled in. Cocktails on the open lawn outside. Late-night DJ for the younger guests.
Day 3 — Wedding + Reception
Baraat reception on the open lawn. Mandap under the open sky or under the covered banquet, the host’s call. Reception dinner under the stars. Guests sleep on-site, no late-night cab rides.
