Dastoor was founded by Basant Khatod in 1997 as Indore’s first marriage garden, and has remained family-run ever since. Twenty-eight years of the same hands, the same standard, the same patch of soil — a continuity that, in the events business, is harder to keep than it sounds.
The recurring testimonial in family WhatsApp groups in the days after a Dastoor function reads, in some form or another, the same line: “nobody had to chase a single vendor on the day.”
A note from the founder
“We focus on the venue, and we build the platform for the industry to support our dear partners.”
There are no fixed vendors at Dastoor. No empanelled caterers. No royalties from decorators, event planners, artists or any partner the host chooses to bring in. The kitchen, the décor team, the photographer, the DJ, the makeup artist — you bring your own; we hold the venue ready around them.
The principle is simple: we prefer to earn only from areas where we have the expertise and the capacity to invest. That is the venue, the in-house décor studio, the lighting and stagecraft, the hospitality and valet brigade. Everything else, the city of Indore already has the best of — and we’d rather see those craftspeople paid in full than skim a finder’s commission off their work.
The intent is fair play. A young caterer just setting up in Indore competes for your evening on the same terms as the largest banquet house in town. Nothing on our end tilts the field.
