Why families choose Dastoor

Three credentials.
The rest of the work rests on them.

I

Three venues, not a hall.

Three named properties — Garden, Delite, Harmony — under one family. Sized between eighty and two thousand-plus guests, staffed by the same brigade across all three.

II

Décor, hospitality, stagecraft, in-house.

In-house décor studio, lighting and stagecraft, hospitality desk, valet brigade — all on payroll. Catering is arranged by the host through their own caterer.

III

Twenty-eight years on the same soil.

Founded by Basant Khatod in 1997. Five thousand weddings and a 4.3★ average across 3,082 Justdial reviews later, the office still works on one principle: under-commit, over-deliver.

Hospitality & Stagecraft

We build the evening.
You bring the kitchen.

Dastoor provides the venue, the in-house décor studio, the lighting truss, the stagecraft, the hospitality desk and the valet brigade — everything that makes the room. Catering is arranged by the host through their own caterer of choice. We are happy to share a short list of trusted partners in Indore on request.

Heritage

A quiet venue
of record.

Dastoor was founded by Basant Khatod in 1997 as Indore’s first marriage garden, and has remained family-run ever since. Twenty-eight years of the same hands, the same standard, the same patch of soil — a continuity that, in the events business, is harder to keep than it sounds.

The recurring testimonial in family WhatsApp groups in the days after a Dastoor function reads, in some form or another, the same line: “nobody had to chase a single vendor on the day.”

A note from the founder

“We focus on the venue, and we build the platform for the industry to support our dear partners.”

There are no fixed vendors at Dastoor. No empanelled caterers. No royalties from decorators, event planners, artists or any partner the host chooses to bring in. The kitchen, the décor team, the photographer, the DJ, the makeup artist — you bring your own; we hold the venue ready around them.

The principle is simple: we prefer to earn only from areas where we have the expertise and the capacity to invest. That is the venue, the in-house décor studio, the lighting and stagecraft, the hospitality and valet brigade. Everything else, the city of Indore already has the best of — and we’d rather see those craftspeople paid in full than skim a finder’s commission off their work.

The intent is fair play. A young caterer just setting up in Indore competes for your evening on the same terms as the largest banquet house in town. Nothing on our end tilts the field.

From the Dastoor diary

Notes from twenty-eight Indore wedding seasons.

Editorial pieces written by the team on the ground — what families ask before booking, what we’ve learned, what the Indore wedding calendar actually looks like up close.

Notes on the season

Why Indore weddings cluster in November and February.

The Indian wedding calendar pivots on muhurat dates and weather. In Indore that translates to roughly 40 high-demand evenings between mid-November and mid-February, then a second peak in April-May before the monsoon arrives. October bookings open eighteen months in advance; April-May still has room four to six weeks out. We share the year ahead on request.

Notes on the format

What “covered banquet plus open lawn” actually solves.

The format Dastoor standardised in 1997 was less about luxury and more about contingency. Indian wedding evenings run six to ten hours; weather, light, sound and guest comfort all shift across that window. A covered banquet handles climate. The open lawn handles scale. The combination handles the actual evening — not the abstract one in the brochure.

Notes on hospitality

The small things families remember a month later.

Photographers will tell you the wedding-day brief gets repeated thirty times. The estate manager remembers it the first time. The captain knows the bride’s grandmother needs a chair near the mandap. The kitchen team has plated for the same caterer four times this year. None of this lives in a price sheet; all of it is what you’re really paying for.

Practical questions, plainly answered

Before you write.

Each of Garden, Delite and Harmony is held within Dastoor and tuned to a different scale of evening. Garden carries 30,000 sq ft of covered banquet plus an open lawn with thirty-three rooms on site; Delite is the largest property — fifty thousand square feet of open lawn, a twelve thousand square feet covered shed connected to the lawn, two interconnected AC banquet halls (up to 300 guests), seventy rooms on site, and two kitchens for parallel catering — 1,000+ seated on the lawn or 2,000+ standing; Harmony is an open-to-sky lawn at MR-10 carrying a thousand-plus seated and two thousand-plus as a standing reception. We host weddings, receptions, sangeet, engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers, religious gatherings, corporate evenings, conferences, exhibitions and brand launches across all three. Share the date and headcount on WhatsApp or the form below — we will recommend the venue that suits and host you for a walk-through before anything is confirmed.

Prime dates in the Indore wedding calendar (November through February, with a second peak in April and May) are typically held six to eight months in advance. Off-peak corporate evenings and smaller social functions can sometimes be confirmed inside a month. The honest answer is date-specific — reach out and we will tell you whether your target date is open.

Catering is arranged by the family directly, through your own caterer. Dastoor provides the venue, décor, hospitality and stagecraft — the kitchen is yours to bring. We can recommend a short list of trusted caterers in Indore (pure-vegetarian, Marwari, Jain and Continental specialists) if helpful.

Garden and Delite each have on-site rooms — Garden carries thirty-three, Delite seventy. Harmony is an open-to-sky lawn without on-site accommodation; out-of-town guests stay at Delite or partner hotels within five minutes.

We share a written quotation after a brief conversation about the venue, date, guest count and inclusions. Pricing varies by tier; we do not publish package sheets because every evening is different. Site visits are free of charge and unconditional.
